Trick or Trade is Pokémon’s answer to Halloween sweets: bags of three-card mini packs made to hand out at the door. The Pokémon Company released a new Trick or Trade BOOster Bundle every autumn from 2022 to 2024, each with its own 30-card set, then switched to stamped promos at Pokémon League events. This is the full history, with every card and its TCGplayer market price on 4 October 2026 (sterling at $1 = £0.7575).
Trick or Trade timeline
Every Trick or Trade card is a reprint of a card from a recent expansion. It keeps its original set symbol and number but gets a small Pikachu jack-o’-lantern stamp in the bottom right corner of the artwork. The bundles were sold in the US, Canada and the UK, and each set had 10 holo cards and 20 non-holos.

The first BOOster Bundle went on sale on 1 September 2022, with Gengar and Pikachu on an orange bag of 40 purple mini packs. The 30 cards were drawn from Rebel Clash, Darkness Ablaze, Champion's Path, Battle Styles, Chilling Reign, Evolving Skies, Fusion Strike, Brilliant Stars and Astral Radiance: nine Sword & Shield expansions.
Most of the picks are obvious ghosts: the Gastly, Litwick, Duskull and Sinistea lines, Mimikyu, Misdreavus and Mismagius, plus Phantump, Trevenant and the pumpkin Pokémon Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist. Others are there for the mood: Zubat, Murkrow, the Spinarak spiders, Cubone and its skull, the Hatenna witch-hat line and Darkrai. The odd one out is Mewtwo from Brilliant Stars, which has no obvious Halloween link at all. It is also the second most valuable card in it at $0.87, behind the Chilling Reign Gengar.

The second bundle arrived on 1 September 2023 with 50 packs instead of 40, and a green bag with a startled Pikachu being chased by Mimikyu. The cards came from Sword & Shield, Rebel Clash, Vivid Voltage, Evolving Skies, Lost Origin, Silver Tempest, Scarlet & Violet and Paldea Evolved, which made it the first Trick or Trade with Scarlet & Violet cards: Houndoom, Shuppet, Drifloon, Drifblim and the ghost dog line Greavard and Houndstone.
The core ghosts returned with new artwork from newer sets: Gastly, Haunter and Gengar from Lost Origin, Litwick, Lampent and Chandelure too, and the Duskull line from Vivid Voltage. Newcomers included Banette, Spectrier, Marshadow, the anchor ghost Dhelmise and Galarian Runerigus. Pikachu was a holo this time.

2024: Cosmos holos and pre-sorted packs

The third bundle came out a little earlier, on 30 August 2024, with 35 packs in the standard bag. Its cards came from Paldea Evolved, Obsidian Flames, Paradox Rift, Paldean Fates, Temporal Forces and Twilight Masquerade, all Scarlet & Violet era.
Two things changed. The 10 holos were all Cosmos holos: Darkrai, Pikachu, Mimikyu, Gengar, Flutter Mane, Sinistcha, Teal Mask Ogerpon, Munkidori, Fezandipiti and Okidogi. And the packs were not random. Each was one of 10 pre-sorted packs with no overlap, so 10 packs made a complete set. The set also brought in the Loyal Three (Okidogi, Munkidori and Fezandipiti), Teal Mask Ogerpon, Umbreon, and all three Paldea starters: Sprigatito, Fuecoco and Quaxly.
The Paldean Fates Gengar (057/091) is the most valuable Trick or Trade card from any year at $3.75.

2025: no bundle, one Spiritomb
There was no new Trick or Trade set in 2025. The name moved to a promo instead. Play! Pokémon stores could hold Pokéween events from 1 to 31 October 2025, and everyone who went got:
| Pokéween 2025 giveaway | Details |
|---|---|
| Spiritomb promo | Mega Evolution 087/132 (art by mingo), with the Trick or Trade stamp and a Play! Pokémon logo behind the card text |
| Booster pack | One Trick or Trade BOOster pack |
| Pokémon GO code | Rare Candy, plus an Incense or a Lucky Egg at random |

2026: Zubat, Golbat and Crobat
As of 5 Oct 2026, there is still no 2026 BOOster Bundle. Halloween 2026 follows the 2025 pattern, with League promos instead of a set:
| Pokéween 2026 | Details |
|---|---|
| Cards | Zubat, Golbat and Crobat promos |
| When | 1 to 31 October 2026 |
| Where | Play! Pokémon stores, to Pokémon League players. Each store decides how to give them out |

The Pokémon in every set
The three sets feature 56 different Pokémon between them. Ten appear in all three, always as a new card each year:
Pikachu, Gastly, Haunter, Gengar, Mimikyu, Litwick, Lampent, Chandelure, Phantump and Trevenant.
Another eight were in 2022 and 2023 but dropped for 2024: the Duskull line, Sinistea, Polteageist, Mismagius, Zubat and Murkrow. Greavard, Houndstone and Houndoom joined in 2023 and stayed. Darkrai, Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist skipped 2023 and came back in 2024.
What Trick or Trade is worth now
The singles are cheap. Most sell for 10 to 30 cents, and a complete 30-card set bought as singles costs less than one sealed bundle:
| Set | All 30 singles | Mini pack | Standard bundle | 120-pack bundle |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2022 | $8.32£6.30 | $1.83 | $70.82£54 | $165.99£126 |
| 2023 | $6.32£4.79 | $2.41 | $81.65£62 | $191.98£145 |
| 2024 | $12.06£9.14 | $1.52 | $67.99£52 | $181.32£137 |
Sealed bundles are where the money is, because they left shops years ago. If you want something to actually hand out on 31 October, though, singles or loose mini packs are far cheaper. Prices are TCGplayer market prices on 4 October 2026.
FAQ
How many Trick or Trade sets are there?
Three. Trick or Trade BOOster Bundles came out in 2022, 2023 and 2024, each with its own 30-card set, so there are 90 stamped cards in all. In 2025 the name was used for a single stamped Spiritomb promo instead of a new set.
Is there a Trick or Trade set for 2026?
As of 5 October 2026, no. The Pokémon Company has not announced a 2026 Trick or Trade BOOster Bundle. For Halloween 2026, Play! Pokémon stores are giving pumpkin-stamped Zubat, Golbat and Crobat promos to Pokémon League players from 1 to 31 October.
Are Trick or Trade cards worth anything?
Most single cards sell for under 30 cents. The most valuable is the 2024 Cosmos holo Gengar (Paldean Fates 057/091) at $3.75 on TCGplayer on 4 October 2026. A complete 30-card set costs about $6.32 to $12.06 in singles. Sealed bundles are worth more: the 2023 50-pack bundle is around $81.65.
Are Trick or Trade cards legal in tournaments?
Yes, as long as the original card is legal in the format you are playing. Trick or Trade cards are reprints with their original set number, so they count as that card. The pumpkin stamp does not change the card.
How can you tell a Trick or Trade card?
Look for the small Pikachu jack-o'-lantern stamp in the bottom right corner of the artwork. The rest of the card, including the set symbol and number, is the same as the original.
How many cards are in a Trick or Trade pack?
Three. The standard bundles held 40 packs (2022), 50 packs (2023) and 35 packs (2024). Larger 120-pack bundles were sold each year, and 2024 also had an 80-pack bundle.
