Paldean Fates set overview

Scarlet & Violet—Paldean Fates is the second special set of the Scarlet & Violet series, after Pokémon 151. It released on 26 January 2024 and reached Pokémon TCG Live a day earlier. It has 245 cards: a 91-card main list and 154 secret rares numbered 092/091 to 245/091. The Pokémon Company International announced the set on 16 November 2023.

Like Hidden Fates and Shining Fates before it, the set is built around Shiny Pokémon, and it added two rarities for them. A Shiny Rare has one sparkling star in the bottom-left corner, and a Shiny Ultra Rare has two. There are 120 Shiny Rares and 12 Shiny Ultra Rares, and every Shiny Ultra Rare is a Pokémon ex. The main list has ten Pokémon ex. Among them are Great Tusk ex, Iron Treads ex and three Tera Pokémon ex: Charizard ex, Forretress ex and Espathra ex. Clive makes his English debut as a Supporter.

As a special set, Paldean Fates had no booster box, and packs were not sold on their own. They came in Elite Trainer Boxes, Tech Sticker Collections, tins, mini tins, Premium Collections and Booster Bundles, released in three waves between 26 January and 23 February 2024. The English set is based on the Japanese Shiny Treasure ex, with cards from other Japanese releases. The changes are listed below.

What changed from Shiny Treasure ex

• Shorter main list: 91 cards against 190. The Japanese main list was mostly reprints of earlier cards. Paldean Fates keeps part of it and adds cards from Raging Surf, Ancient Roar, Future Flash and the Terastal Starter Sets that Paradox Rift had not used. Examples are Gengar (057/091) from Raging Surf, Maractus (003/091) from Ancient Roar and Chimecho (030/091) from Future Flash.
• Moved to promos: 16 Japanese secret rares became English promos, SVP 069 to SVP 084, instead of pack cards. The shiny Paldea starter lines went into the three Premium Collections, and the shiny Great Tusk ex, Iron Treads ex and Charizard ex into the tins. The shiny Fidough, Greavard and Maschiff went into the Tech Sticker Collections, and Mitsuhiro Arita's shiny Mimikyu art rare into the Elite Trainer Box.
• Same top end: the Japanese set's five SR Supporters, eight special art rares and six gold UR cards are all in English packs. They are numbered 227/091 to 245/091 as Ultra Rares, Special Illustration Rares and Hyper Rares.
• Numbering: 154 secret rares against 170 in Japan, with 120 Shiny Rares against 129 and 12 Shiny Ultra Rares against 18.

Paldean Fates chase cards

The six cards below are the most expensive singles in the set by market price on 9 October 2026. The most expensive of all on that date was Mew ex (232/091, Special Illustration Rare). The set's headline cards are three Special Illustration Rares of shiny Pokémon ex: Mew ex (232/091) by USGMEN, Gardevoir ex (233/091) by Kuroimori and Charizard ex (234/091) by Akira Egawa. Shiny Pikachu fronts the set: it leads the official set description and appears on one of the four pack designs. Its card in the set is Yuu Nishida's Shiny Rare Pikachu (131/091). Paldean Fates illustrators

92 illustrators are credited across the 245 cards, and Kouki Saitou has the most credits. Three of the eight Special Illustration Rares, Arven, Nemona and Penny, are by aspara. The others are by USGMEN (Mew ex), Kuroimori (Gardevoir ex), Akira Egawa (Charizard ex), Taiga Kayama (Clive) and hanabushi (Iono). 5ban Graphics, aky CG Works and PLANETA Yamashita made the gold Hyper Rares. The three Illustration Rares are by Tetsu Kayama (Wugtrio), akagi (Palafin) and REND (Pawmi). Each tile leads with the artist's highest-value card in the set; the name links to their entry in the illustrator database.

Shiny Treasure ex (シャイニートレジャーex) released in Japan on 1 December 2023. It is a High Class Pack, a Japanese subset built mostly from reprints, and each 10-card pack held at least one Pokémon ex. With 360 cards, 190 main cards and 170 secret rares, it was the largest Japanese set at the time, a record it held until Start Deck 100 Battle Collection in December 2025. Paldean Fates keeps every secret rare except the 16 that became English promos, and swaps much of the reprinted main list for cards from other Japanese releases. Japanese secret rares use the S, SSR, AR, SR, SAR and UR labels, where the English set uses Shiny Rare, Shiny Ultra Rare, IR, UR, SIR and HR.

Paldean Fates products and sealed prices

The Elite Trainer Box, the Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box and the three Tech Sticker Collections launched with the set on 26 January 2024. The tins, mini tins and Premium Collections followed on 9 February, and the Booster Bundle on 23 February. The Elite Trainer Box shows a shiny Mimikyu and holds Mitsuhiro Arita's Mimikyu as a promo (SVP 075). The Pokémon Center version, sold online in the US, Canada and the UK, adds two packs and a second Mimikyu with the Pokémon Center logo. Each Premium Collection holds the shiny evolution line of one Paldea starter as promos, in a magnetic three-card display. Sealed prices are market prices from the same snapshot as the singles.
