Mega Evolution set overview

Mega Evolution is the first set of the Mega Evolution series. It released on 26 September 2025 in most markets, but in the UK, the rest of Europe, the Middle East and Africa it arrived on 10 October 2025 after delivery problems delayed the launch. Prerelease events began on 13 September, and the set reached Pokémon TCG Live on 25 September. It has 188 cards: a 132-card main list and 56 secret rares numbered 133/132 to 188/132.

The set brought Mega Evolution back to the card game for the first time since the Sun & Moon series, as Mega Evolution Pokémon ex. They give up three Prize cards when Knocked Out, and they evolve straight from the earlier stage, so Mega Lucario ex evolves from Riolu rather than from Lucario. All ten Pokémon ex in the set are Mega Evolutions, led by Mega Lucario ex and Mega Gardevoir ex. Their Ultra Rares can show a silhouette of the regular Pokémon behind the Mega Evolution, such as Lucario on the Mega Lucario ex card.

Two more firsts: Item, Pokémon Tool and Stadium cards appear as full-art Ultra Rares, including Rare Candy (175/132) and Night Stretcher (173/132), and Mirror Holofoil cards return for the first time since the Black & White era. The English list combines the Japanese sets Mega Brave and Mega Symphonia, released together on 1 August 2025.

What changed from Mega Brave and Mega Symphonia

• Combined: Mega Brave (led by Mega Lucario ex, with Mega Venusaur, Camerupt, Absol and Mawile) and Mega Symphonia (led by Mega Gardevoir ex, with Mega Abomasnow, Manectric, Latias and Kangaskhan) were sold as a pair in Japan. The English set merges them into one list.
• Added: six Trainer reprints: Boss's Orders (114/132), Energy Switch (115/132), Pokémon Center Lady (123/132), Rare Candy (125/132), Switch (130/132) and Ultra Ball (131/132). Most of them were also in Japan's Premium Trainer Box MEGA.
• Cut: the Riolu and Alakazam art rares. They became the Elite Trainer Box promos: Riolu (MEP 010) in the Mega Lucario box and Alakazam (MEP 009) in the Mega Gardevoir box.
• Numbering: 132 main cards against 126 across the two Japanese sets, and 56 secret rares against 58.

Mega Evolution chase cards

The five cards below are the most expensive singles in the set by market price on 9 October 2026. The most expensive of all on that date was Mega Lucario ex (188/132, Mega Hyper Rare). Both headline Pokémon have a gold Mega Hyper Rare, Mega Gardevoir ex (187/132) and Mega Lucario ex (188/132), and a Special Illustration Rare, by Raita Kazama (178/132) and Atsushi Furusawa (179/132). The ten Special Illustration Rares also include Mega Venusaur ex, Mega Absol ex, Mega Latias ex and Mega Kangaskhan ex, and four Supporters: Acerola's Mischief, Lillie's Determination, Lt. Mega Brave (メガブレイブ) and Mega Symphonia (メガシンフォニア) released together in Japan on 1 August 2025. Each has 63 numbered cards and 29 secret rares, in five-card packs with 30 packs to a box. Mega Evolution puts both lists into one set of ten-card packs, adds six Trainer reprints and moves two art rares into the Elite Trainer Boxes. Japanese secret rares use the AR, SR, SAR and MUR labels, where the English set uses IR, UR, SIR and Mega Hyper Rare.

Mega Evolution products and sealed prices

The products launched with the set on 26 September 2025 (10 October in Europe, the Middle East and Africa), except the Build & Battle Box, which came first at prerelease events. Each Build & Battle deck holds one of four promos: Meganium (MEP 001), Inteleon (MEP 002), Alakazam (MEP 003) or Lunatone (MEP 004). There are two Elite Trainer Boxes: the Mega Lucario box has a Riolu promo (MEP 010) and the Mega Gardevoir box an Alakazam promo (MEP 009), both art rares from the Japanese sets. The Enhanced Booster Box adds a Bulbasaur card with the Mega Evolution stamp. Later collections include the Mega Latias ex Box (10 October 2025) and the Mega Lucario ex Figure Collection (7 November 2025). Sealed prices are market prices from the same snapshot as the singles.
