Evolving Skies set overview
Evolving Skies is the seventh main set of the Sword & Shield series. It went on sale on 27 August 2021, seven weeks after Skyscraping Perfection and Blue Sky Stream. The set has 237 cards: 203 numbered cards, the last 38 of them full arts, and 34 secret rares numbered 204/203 to 237/203.
The set has two themes. The first is the return of Dragon-type Pokémon, missing from the card game since Cosmic Eclipse in 2019. Rayquaza VMAX and Gigantamax Duraludon VMAX lead them, with Dragonite V, Noivern V and Regidrago. Dragon types have no Weakness, and their attacks can need two different types of Energy. The second theme is Eevee. All eight Eeveelutions appear as Pokémon V and all eight as Pokémon VMAX, and five of them have alternate-art cards. The set also carries on the Single Strike and Rapid Strike styles from Battle Styles.
The English list combines the Japanese twin sets Skyscraping Perfection and Blue Sky Stream with most of the Japanese Eevee Heroes subset and a few cards left over from earlier Japanese sets. Some Japanese cards were held back for Fusion Strike or moved to promos. The changes are listed below.

What changed from the Japanese sets
- Added from Eevee Heroes: the Eeveelution cards, including Leafeon V (007/203), Glaceon VMAX (041/203), Sylveon VMAX (075/203) and Umbreon VMAX (095/203), the Supporters Aroma Lady (141/203) and Gordie (149/203), and the gold Inteleon (227/203) and Turffield Stadium (234/203). The Umbreon VMAX alternate art (215/203) is Eevee Heroes 095/069.
- Added from separate Japanese products: Flareon VMAX (018/203), Vaporeon VMAX (030/203), Jolteon VMAX (051/203) and Espeon VMAX (065/203). Japan sold these outside the Eevee Heroes packs.
- Added from earlier Japanese sets: cards Chilling Reign did not use, such as Dracozolt V (058/203) from Peerless Fighters and Arctovish V (048/203) from Jet-Black Spirit.
- Moved to promos: the regular-art Flareon V, Vaporeon V and Jolteon V became SWSH149 to SWSH151 in the Eevee Evolutions Tins and Premium Collection, and the regular Dragonite V became SWSH154 in the Dragonite V Box. In the set those cards appear only as full arts, such as Flareon V (169/203) and Dragonite V (191/203).
- Left out: the alternate-art Flareon V, Vaporeon V and Jolteon V from Eevee Heroes. The Supporters Shauna, Schoolboy and Schoolgirl, and most of the twin-set Pokémon not used here, went into Fusion Strike instead.
- Numbering: 203 numbered cards and 34 secret rares, against 67 + 23 in each Japanese twin set and 69 + 32 in Eevee Heroes.

Every card in the set is below in set-number order, with its rarity, illustrator and market price. The headline price is TCGplayer's main listing for the card. Commons, uncommons and rares also come in reverse holo, so a line under those cards splits the price into regular (or holo) and reverse holo, and the Prices by printing table totals each printing. Pokémon V, VMAX, full arts and secret rares come in holo only. The full arts sit inside the numbered list, from 166/203 to 203/203: 33 Pokémon V, eleven of them alternate arts, and five Supporters. The 34 secret rares follow: 17 rainbow Pokémon VMAX, six of them alternate arts, five rainbow Supporters and 12 gold cards, ending with Lightning, Darkness and Metal Energy. Search by name, number, artist or rarity, or narrow the list with the type, rarity and price chips. The Own button marks a card as collected and saves the mark in your browser only.

Japanese source setBlue Sky Stream (蒼空ストリーム)Released 9 July 2021 · 90 cards · One of three Japanese sets behind Evolving Skies.Skyscraping Perfection (摩天パーフェクト) and Blue Sky Stream (蒼空ストリーム) released together in Japan on 9 July 2021, with 90 cards each (67 + 23 secret rares) in five-card packs. Skyscraping Perfection carries Duraludon VMAX and has no Grass, Fire or Lightning Pokémon; Blue Sky Stream carries Rayquaza VMAX and has no Psychic, Darkness or Metal Pokémon. Eevee Heroes (イーブイヒーローズ), a 101-card subset, came out on 28 May 2021. Its pre-orders sold out quickly, and The Pokémon Company apologised and moved further pre-orders on Pokémon Center Online to a lottery. Evolving Skies takes most of Eevee Heroes and most of each twin set. Most of the twin-set cards it leaves out went into Fusion Strike; a few Trainer and Energy cards were not used. Japanese secret rares use the SR, HR and UR labels, where the English set has full arts, rainbow rares and gold secret rares.

The Build & Battle Box has one of four promos, Flaaffy (SWSH122), Galarian Articuno (SWSH123), Galarian Zapdos (SWSH124) and Galarian Moltres (SWSH125), and Evolving Skies was the first set with a Build & Battle Stadium, which packs two of those boxes with four extra booster packs. The blisters carry Eevee (SWSH127), Galarian Slowpoke (SWSH126), Umbreon (SWSH129) and Eiscue (SWSH128) promos. Sealed prices are market prices from the same snapshot as the singles.

Collector's notes
A few things worth knowing before you chase a master set or buy singles from this set.
Three Eeveelutions have no alternate art here
Leafeon, Glaceon, Espeon, Sylveon and Umbreon each have an alternate-art V, but Flareon V (169/203), Vaporeon V (172/203) and Jolteon V (177/203) have only a regular full art. Their Eevee Heroes alternate arts are not in the English set, and their regular-art cards are promos (SWSH149 to SWSH151) from the Eevee Evolutions Tins and Premium Collection, not set cards. The same goes for Dragonite V: the regular art is SWSH154, from the Dragonite V Box.
Variants from outside the packs
Non-holo Eldegoss (016/203), Regieleki (060/203) and Zoroark (103/203) came in Build & Battle Boxes; the pack versions are holofoil, and the printing line on those cards covers only the holo and reverse holo. The full-art Raihan (202/203) exists with a Professor Program stamp, Glaceon V (040/203), Glaceon VMAX (041/203) and Cryogonal (043/203) with a silver snowflake stamp from the 2023 Holiday Calendar, and Pikachu (049/203) with a Pokémon League stamp and a Trick or Trade jack-o'-lantern stamp.
Two Umbreon VMAX secret rares
Umbreon VMAX has two secret rare prints. The rainbow Umbreon VMAX (214/203) is by Akira Egawa, who also painted all four pack wrappers; the alternate-art Umbreon VMAX (215/203) is by Keiichiro Ito. A listing that says only "Umbreon VMAX secret rare" could be either card, so check the number and the artist before you buy.

Evolving Skies FAQ
What is Moonbreon?
A collectors' nickname, not an official name, for the Umbreon VMAX alternate art (215/203), illustrated by Keiichiro Ito. It came from the Japanese Eevee Heroes set, where it is card 095/069.
How many alternate arts are in Evolving Skies?
17. Six are Pokémon VMAX secret rares: Leafeon, Glaceon, Sylveon, Umbreon, Rayquaza and Duraludon. Eleven are Pokémon V full arts: Leafeon, Glaceon, Espeon, Golurk, Sylveon, Medicham, Umbreon, Dragonite, Rayquaza, Noivern and Duraludon.
Do Evolving Skies cards come in reverse holo?
Commons, uncommons and rares do, so most of them have two prices: regular (or holo) and reverse holo. Pokémon V, Pokémon VMAX, full arts and secret rares are holo only. The line under each card and the Prices by printing table show the TCGplayer market price for each printing.
Is Evolving Skies legal in Standard?
No. Its cards carry the E regulation mark, which left the Standard format on 5 April 2024 (21 March 2024 in Pokémon TCG Live). The set is still legal in Expanded.
