Surging Sparks set overview

Surging Sparks is the eighth main set of the Scarlet & Violet series. It went on sale on 8 November 2024, after prerelease events on the weekends of 26 October and 2 November, and it reached Pokémon TCG Live on 7 November. The set has 252 cards: a 191-card main list and 61 secret rares numbered 192/191 to 252/191.

The set is themed on the Terarium, the setting of The Indigo Disk, the second part of the Scarlet and Violet DLC. It carries on the Stellar Tera Pokémon ex that Stellar Crown introduced, led by Pikachu ex with its Topaz Bolt attack and a Stellar Alolan Exeggutor ex at the head of a group of Dragon types. Latias ex and Archaludon ex are among its other Pokémon ex, and it adds eight ACE SPEC cards.

The English list combines two Japanese releases, Super Electric Breaker and the Dragon-type subset Paradise Dragona, with cards from the Stellar Tera Type Starter Sets and some Japanese promos. The changes are listed below.

What changed from the Japanese sets

• Added from the Stellar Tera Type Starter Sets: Sylveon ex (086/191) and Ceruledge ex (036/191) with their supporting cards. The two Japanese starter sets came out on 30 August 2024.
• Added from Japanese gym promos: cards such as Kilowattrel ex (068/191), Flamigo ex (160/191) and Tyme (190/191).
• Moved to a promo: the Magneton art rare from Super Electric Breaker, by Shinji Kanda, became the Elite Trainer Box promo (SVP 159).
• Left out: Pecharunt from Super Electric Breaker, which English players already had as a Shrouded Fable blister promo (SVP 149).
• Numbering: 191 main cards against 170 across the two Japanese sets, and 61 secret rares against 62.

Surging Sparks chase cards

The six cards below are the most expensive singles in the set by market price on 9 October 2026. The most expensive of all on that date was Pikachu ex (238/191, Special Illustration Rare). Pikachu ex has two chase prints: the Special Illustration Rare (238/191) by GIDORA and the gold Hyper Rare (247/191). The other headline Special Illustration Rares are Latias ex (239/191) by OKACHEKE and Milotic ex (237/191) by Kuroimori; OKACHEKE also drew the Latios Illustration Rare (203/191). Every card in the set is below in set-number order, with its rarity, illustrator and market price. The secret rares start at 192/191: 23 Illustration Rares, 21 Ultra Rares, 11 Special Illustration Rares and six gold Hyper Rares. Surging Sparks draws on two Japanese releases. Paradise Dragona (楽園ドラゴーナ), a Dragon-focused subset, came out on 13 September 2024 with 94 cards (64 + 30 secret rares). Super Electric Breaker (超電ブレイカー) followed on 18 October 2024 with 138 cards (106 + 32 secret rares) and the Stellar Pikachu ex. Both were sold 30 packs to a box. The English set merges the two, adds the Stellar Tera starter-set cards and a few gym promos, and moves the Magneton art rare into the Elite Trainer Box. Japanese secret rares use the AR, SR, SAR and UR labels, where the English set uses IR, UR, SIR and HR.

Surging Sparks products and sealed prices

Everything below launched with the set on 8 November 2024 except the Build & Battle Box, which came first at prerelease events. Its four promos are Gouging Fire (SVP 151), Chien-Pao (SVP 152), Magneton (SVP 153) and Indeedee (SVP 154). Both Elite Trainer Boxes show a Stellar Tera Pikachu and hold the Magneton art rare as a promo (SVP 159); the Pokémon Center version, sold online in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia and New Zealand, adds two packs and a stamped second copy. The Booster Bundle came in two packaging styles with six packs each. Sealed prices are market prices from the same snapshot as the singles.
