Pokémon 151 set overview

Scarlet & Violet—151, usually called Pokémon 151, is the first special set of the Scarlet & Violet series. It released on 22 September 2023 and reached Pokémon TCG Live a day earlier. It has 207 cards: a 165-card main list and 42 secret rares numbered 166/165 to 207/165.

The set covers only the original 151 Pokémon from Kanto, and unusually the cards run in National Pokédex order from Bulbasaur to Mew rather than being grouped by type. Its 12 Pokémon ex include Venusaur ex, Charizard ex, Blastoise ex, Alakazam ex, Zapdos ex and Mew ex. Many illustrators drew a whole evolution line as one story across several cards, and the set brought back Kadabra, which had not appeared on a card since Skyridge in 2003. The Antique Dome Fossil, Antique Helix Fossil and Antique Old Amber revived fossil Items that are played as Basic Pokémon.

There was no booster box: packs came in Elite Trainer Boxes, collections, tins and Booster Bundles. A rare pack type, which fans call a "demigod pack", holds a full Bulbasaur, Charmander or Squirtle evolution line as secret rares in place of the reverse holos and the Rare. Our Pokémon 151 price guide values every major chase card.

What changed from Pokémon Card 151

  • Same main list: both versions have the same 165 main cards, with the Pokémon in the same Pokédex order. Only the Trainers are ordered differently, because each language sorts them alphabetically.
  • Moved to promos: three Japanese secret rares became English promos. The Snorlax art rare, by GOSSAN, is the Elite Trainer Box promo (SVP 051); the Mewtwo art rare by Bun Toujo (SVP 052) and the Mew ex special art rare by Natsumi Yoshida (SVP 053) went into the Ultra-Premium Collection. That is why English 151 has no Mew ex Special Illustration Rare.
  • Packs: Japanese packs had seven cards with two guaranteed holos, and their Common to Rare cards also came in Poké Ball and, rarely, Master Ball mirror patterns. The English set has no Poké Ball or Master Ball patterns.
  • Numbering: 42 secret rares against 45 in Japan.

Pokémon 151 chase cards

The six cards below are the most expensive singles in the set by market price on 9 October 2026. The most expensive of all on that date was Charizard ex (199/165, Special Illustration Rare). The Special Illustration Rares of the three Kanto starters lead the set: Charizard ex (199/165) by miki kudo, Blastoise ex (200/165) by Mitsuhiro Arita and Venusaur ex (198/165) by Yoriyuki Ikegami. The same artists drew each starter's first two stages as Illustration Rares, so each line reads as one story that ends in the ex card. Tap a card to jump to it in the list.

Every card in the set is below in set-number order, which for the Pokémon is Pokédex order. The secret rares start at 166/165: 16 Illustration Rares, 16 Ultra Rares, seven Special Illustration Rares and three gold Hyper Rares (Mew ex, Switch and Basic Psychic Energy). Search by name, number, artist or rarity, or narrow the list with the type, rarity and price chips. Tap any card for the full-size scan. 102 illustrators are credited across the 207 cards, and Mitsuhiro Arita, the artist of the original Base Set Charizard, has the most credits. The starter stories are the set's best-known art: miki kudo drew Charmander, Charmeleon and Charizard ex, Mitsuhiro Arita drew Squirtle, Wartortle and Blastoise ex, and Yoriyuki Ikegami drew Bulbasaur, Ivysaur and Venusaur ex. The other Special Illustration Rares are Alakazam ex (Shinya Komatsu), Zapdos ex (Shiburingaru), Erika's Invitation (Cona Nitanda) and Giovanni's Charisma (Hideki Ishikawa). Each tile leads with the artist's highest-value card; the name links to their entry in the illustrator database.

Pokémon 151 FAQ

Why is there no Mew ex Special Illustration Rare in English 151?

The Japanese set's Mew ex special art rare, by Natsumi Yoshida, was not put in English booster packs. It was released as a promo (SVP 053) in the 151 Ultra-Premium Collection instead. The English set's top Mew ex is the gold Hyper Rare (205/165).

Is there a Pokémon 151 booster box?

No. As a special set, 151 was sold in Elite Trainer Boxes, collections, tins and six-pack Booster Bundles rather than 36-pack booster boxes.

What is a 151 demigod pack?

A rare pack that contains a complete Bulbasaur, Charmander or Squirtle evolution line as secret rares, in place of the reverse holo cards and the Rare. Fans named them demigod packs.

What are the Pokémon 151 promo cards?

Elite Trainer Box: Snorlax (SVP 051). Ultra-Premium Collection: Mewtwo (SVP 052) and Mew ex (SVP 053). Poster Collection and three-pack blisters: Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle (SVP 046 to 048). Collections: Zapdos ex (SVP 049) and Alakazam ex (SVP 050).
