Phantasmal Flames set overview
Phantasmal Flames is the second main English set of the Mega Evolution series. It went on sale on 14 November 2025, after prerelease events on the weekends of 1 and 8 November, and it reached Pokémon TCG Live a day early, on 13 November. The set has 130 cards: a 94-card main list and 36 secret rares numbered 095/094 to 130/094.
Mega Charizard X ex is the central Pokémon and Mega Gengar ex its rival in the set's story, and the card pool leans on Fire and Darkness types. It has six Mega Evolution Pokémon ex (Mega Charizard X, Mega Gengar, Mega Heracross, Mega Lopunny, Mega Sharpedo and Mega Diancie) and four other Pokémon ex: Oricorio ex, Rotom ex, Mismagius ex and Empoleon ex. As in the first set, the Mega Evolution ex Ultra Rares can show a silhouette of the Pokémon's regular form in the background of the artwork.
The English list adapts the Japanese set Inferno X, released on 26 September 2025, and folds in two Japanese starter sets built around Mega Gengar ex and Mega Diancie ex. Several Inferno X cards left the set to become promos in English products; the changes are listed below.

What changed from Inferno X
- Added from the MEGA Starter Sets: Mega Gengar ex (056/094) and Mega Diancie ex (041/094) with the cards around them, 16 Pokémon plus Punk Helmet and Wondrous Patch. The two Japanese starter sets came out on 5 September 2025; in English they were sold as the Mega Battle Decks.
- Added as Illustration Rares: Paldean Wooper (102/094) and Meowth (106/094), full-art promo cards in Japan from the Generations Start Deck Special Battle Set.
- Moved to promos: the Charcadet art rare became the Elite Trainer Box promo (MEP 022); the Oricorio ex special art rare went to the Mega Charizard X ex Ultra-Premium Collection (MEP 024); Cottonee and Whimsicott became Single Pack Blister promos (MEP 018 and 019), and Sneasel and Weavile Three Pack Blister promos (MEP 020 and 021).
- Numbering: the English main list runs to 094 against 080 in Japan. Both sets have 36 secret rares, but English has one more Illustration Rare and one fewer Special Illustration Rare.
Phantasmal Flames chase cards
The six cards below are the most expensive singles in the set by market price on 27 September 2026. The most expensive of all on that date was Mega Charizard X ex (125/094, Special Illustration Rare). Mega Charizard X ex has two chase prints: the Special Illustration Rare (125/094) by danciao, and the gold Mega Hyper Rare (130/094) by takuyoa, the only card of that rarity in the set. Phantasmal Flames products and sealed prices
Everything below went on sale with the set on 14 November 2025 except the Build & Battle Box, which came first at prerelease events. Each Build & Battle deck holds one of four promo cards: Ceruledge (MEP 014), Zacian (MEP 015), Flygon (MEP 016) or Toxtricity (MEP 017). The Elite Trainer Box promo is the Charcadet art rare from Inferno X (MEP 022); the Pokémon Center version adds two packs and a second Charcadet with the Pokémon Center stamp. The Mega Charizard X ex Ultra-Premium Collection, the first of the series, launched the same day with a Mega Attack Rare-style Mega Charizard X ex (MEP 023), Oricorio ex (MEP 024), a playmat and 18 booster packs from several sets. The Mega Battle Decks for Mega Gengar ex and Mega Diancie ex had arrived earlier, on 24 October 2025. Sealed prices are market prices from the same snapshot as the singles.
