Chaos Rising set overview

Chaos Rising is the fourth main English set of the Mega Evolution series. It went on sale on 22 May 2026, after prerelease events on the weekends of 9 and 16 May, and it reached Pokémon TCG Live a day early, on 21 May. The set has 122 cards: an 86-card main list and 36 secret rares numbered 087/086 to 122/086.

The story comes from Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Mega Floette ex brings havoc to Lumiose City as night falls, and Mega Greninja ex leads the Pokémon that push back, with Mega Pyroar ex and Mega Dragalge ex beside it. The Kalos first partners Chespin, Fennekin and Froakie appear with their full evolution lines, and Froakie's line ends in Mega Greninja ex. The Mega Evolution ex Ultra Rares feature a silhouette of each Pokémon's original form in the artwork.

What changed from Ninja Spinner

• Added: Mega Gallade ex (048/086), Krookodile ex (055/086) and the Pokémon Tool Adversity Policy (074/086). All three were promo cards in Japan. Krookodile ex and Adversity Policy came from Pokémon Card Gym Promo Card Pack 2, and Mega Gallade ex from the Special Card Set Mega Gallade ex, sold alongside Nihil Zero.
• Cut: the Fennekin art rare from the Ninja Spinner secret list. Its artwork, by satoma, became the Elite Trainer Box promo (MEP 080) instead.
• Rarity: Ho-Oh (010/086), Keldeo (019/086), Crobat (051/086) and Goodra (068/086) were Uncommons in Japan and are Rares in English.
• Numbering: the English main list runs to 086 against 083 in Japan, and the secret rares run 087/086 to 122/086, 36 cards against 37.

Chaos Rising chase cards

The six cards below are the most expensive singles in the set by market price on 9 October 2026. The most expensive of all on that date was Mega Greninja ex (116/086, Special Illustration Rare). Mega Greninja ex has two chase prints: the Special Illustration Rare (116/086) by Susumu Maeya, and the gold Mega Hyper Rare (122/086) by takuyoa, the only card of that rarity in the set. The other five Special Illustration Rares are Mega Floette ex, Mega Dragalge ex, Cinccino ex and the Supporters AZ's Tranquility and Roxie's Performance. Chaos Rising illustrators

82 illustrators are credited across the 122 cards. 5ban Graphics, the studio that renders most Pokémon ex and Trainer cards, has the most credits. The six Special Illustration Rares are by Susumu Maeya (Mega Greninja ex), Teeziro (Mega Floette ex), Kazumasa Yasukuni (Mega Dragalge ex), Keisin (Cinccino ex), OKACHEKE (AZ's Tranquility) and Tomowaka (Roxie's Performance). Susumu Maeya also drew the Froakie Illustration Rare (088/086), and takuyoa drew both the Ultra Rare and the gold Mega Greninja ex. Ninja Spinner (ニンジャスピナー) released in Japan on 13 March 2026 with 83 numbered cards and 37 secret rares, in five-card packs with 30 packs to a box. It centres on the Kalos first partners and the closing chapter of Pokémon Legends: Z-A, with Mega Greninja ex as the headline card. Chaos Rising moves the same cards into ten-card packs, adds three Japanese promo cards and moves one art rare out to the Elite Trainer Box. Japanese secret rares use the AR, SR, SAR and MUR labels, where the English set uses IR, UR, SIR and Mega Hyper Rare. The Ninja Spinner page has its Special Art Rares.

Chaos Rising products and sealed prices

Everything below went on sale with the set on 22 May 2026 except the Build & Battle Box, which came first at prerelease events. Each Build & Battle deck is built around one of four promo cards numbered as ME Series Black Star Promos: Delphox (MEP 074), Ampharos (MEP 075), Crobat (MEP 076) and Goodra (MEP 077). The Elite Trainer Box promo is the Fennekin art rare from Ninja Spinner (MEP 080); the Pokémon Center version adds two packs and a second Fennekin with the Pokémon Center stamp. Later products with Chaos Rising packs include the Mega Moonlit Tins (5 June 2026) and the Mega Greninja ex Premium Collection (3 July 2026), whose etched-foil Mega Greninja ex promo uses new artwork. Sealed prices are market prices from the same snapshot as the singles.
