Ascended Heroes set overview
Ascended Heroes is the first special set of the Mega Evolution series, released in English on 30 January 2026. It has 295 cards, a 217-card main list and 78 secret rares, which makes it the largest English Pokémon TCG expansion by total card count, ahead of the 284 cards of Fusion Strike. There was no booster box: the cards came in collections, tins and Elite Trainer Boxes released in waves from January to April 2026.
The set mixes Pokémon Legends: Z-A with the stars of the Scarlet & Violet era. Mega Dragonite ex leads it and appears in four versions, and it is joined by new and returning Mega Evolution Pokémon ex, Stellar Tera Pokémon ex and Trainer's Pokémon such as N's Zoroark ex and Lillie's Clefairy ex. Ascended Heroes brought the Mega Attack Rare to English cards: a pop-art rarity with the card's key attack written across the artwork in Japanese katakana. It was also the first English set to bring J regulation mark cards into the Standard format.
Pokémon cards at Common, Uncommon and Rare come in two parallel holo patterns instead of the usual reverse holo: one with a Poké Ball and one with an Energy symbol. Each Pokémon line has its own ball (a Love, Friend, Quick, Dusk or standard Poké Ball), the first partners use Friend Balls, and Team Rocket's Pokémon carry the Team Rocket R instead.

Ascended Heroes chase cards
The six cards below are the most expensive singles in the set by market price on 27 September 2026. The most expensive of all on that date was Pikachu ex (276/217, Special Illustration Rare). There are two Pikachu ex Special Illustration Rares, by booota (276/217) and James Turner (277/217), and the 22 Special Illustration Rares also include Mega Gengar ex (284/217) by danciao and Mega Dragonite ex (290/217) by DOM. DOM drew the Mega Dragonite ex Special Illustration Rare and three of the seven Mega Attack Rares (Mega Eelektross ex, Mega Diancie ex and Mega Dragonite ex), and Taiga Kasai drew three more (Mega Hawlucha ex, Mega Gengar ex and Mega Scrafty ex). aky CG Works drew both gold Mega Hyper Rares. Japanese source: MEGA Dream ex

Its main Japanese source is the high-class pack MEGA Dream ex (ハイクラスパック MEGAドリームex), released on 28 November 2025 with 250 cards (193 + 57 secret rares) in ten-card packs, ten packs to a box. MEGA Dream ex was largely an end-of-year reprint set, and several of its reprints, such as Latias ex, Ceruledge ex and Teal Mask Ogerpon ex, are not in Ascended Heroes. The English set also takes cards from Start Deck 100 Battle Collection, a Japanese product of more than 100 ready-made decks released on 19 December 2025. The N's Zekrom art rare from MEGA Dream ex became the English Elite Trainer Box promo (MEP 031).

Ascended Heroes products and sealed prices
The products arrived in waves. The Tech Sticker Collections came first, on 30 January 2026, each with three packs and a Charmander or Gastly promo. The Elite Trainer Boxes, the mini tins and the Erika and Larry collections followed on 20 February, the Premium Poster and First Partners Deluxe Pin collections on 20 March, and the Booster Bundle and the three Mega ex boxes on 24 April. The Elite Trainer Box promo is N's Zekrom (MEP 031). Later products include the Sam's Club Focused Fighters Premium Collection (21 July 2026) and three Ascended Heroes Tins (28 August 2026) that reuse the Mega ex box promos. Ascended Heroes has seven: Mega Froslass ex, Mega Eelektross ex, Mega Diancie ex, Mega Hawlucha ex, Mega Gengar ex, Mega Scrafty ex and Mega Dragonite ex.
Is there an Ascended Heroes booster box?
No. Ascended Heroes was sold in Elite Trainer Boxes, Booster Bundles of six packs, tins and collections, not in 36-pack booster boxes.
