The Set at a Glance
Chaos Rising (ME04) is the fourth main set of the Mega Evolution series. It went on sale on 22 May 2026 with 122 cards: 86 in the main list and 36 secret rares, numbered 087/086 to 122/086. Mega Greninja ex has three secret rare prints (Ultra Rare, Special Illustration Rare and Mega Hyper Rare), and all three make the top 10. The Special Illustration Rare and the Mega Hyper Rare are first and second, and they are the only cards in the set above $100. The Top 10, Counted Down
#10 Xerneas
Xerneas is the Legendary Pokémon on the cover of Pokémon X. It's a Fairy type in the games and a Psychic type on the card, and YASHIRO Nanaco drew this Illustration Rare.
It holds tenth place by 13 cents. Four cards sit within 58 cents of each other from 10th to 13th (see Just Missed the Cut), so the last spot can change from week to week.
#9 Froakie
Froakie is the Water-type Kalos first partner and the first stage of the Greninja line. Susumu Maeya drew three cards in that line at the top rarities: this Illustration Rare, the Frogadier Illustration Rare (089/086) and the Mega Greninja ex Special Illustration Rare at #1.
It's the most valuable of the set's 11 Illustration Rares.
#8 Mega Greninja ex
The Ultra Rare print of Mega Greninja ex, drawn by takuyoa, who also drew the regular Double Rare (022/086) and the gold Mega Hyper Rare at #2. Players don't need this version: the Double Rare has the same text and sells for under $1.
It's the most valuable of the 18 Ultra Rares. Chaos Rising has only seven cards above Ultra Rare, six Special Illustration Rares and one Mega Hyper Rare, so eighth place always goes to the best Ultra Rare or Illustration Rare.
#7 Roxie's Performance
One of two Supporter Special Illustration Rares in the set, drawn by Tomowaka. Roxie is the Poison-type Gym Leader of Virbank City in Pokémon Black 2 and White 2. Her Gym is a music club, and she plays bass in a rock band; in the anime it's the punk band Koffing and the Toxics.
Both Supporter Special Illustration Rares are cheap next to the most sought-after Trainer cards in the series: Lillie's Determination from Mega Evolution sells for $55.27 and Rosa's Encouragement from Perfect Order for $41.10.
#6 AZ's Tranquility
The other Supporter Special Illustration Rare, drawn by OKACHEKE. AZ is the 3,000-year-old former king of Kalos from Pokémon X and Y. When his Floette died in a war, he built a machine that brought it back to life, then turned that machine into the ultimate weapon and used it to end the war.
He returns in Pokémon Legends: Z-A as the owner of Hotel Z, and his Floette's Mega Evolution is at the centre of that game's story. The card sells for a little more than Roxie's Performance.
#5 Mega Floette ex
Floette's Eternal Flower form first appeared in Pokémon X and Y as AZ's partner, and its Mega Evolution is new in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. The set is built around it: the Chaos Rising blurb has Mega Floette ex bringing turmoil to the city's streets, and Mega Greninja ex leading the Mega Evolution Pokémon ex that fight back.
On the card it's a Psychic-type Basic Pokémon. Teeziro drew the Special Illustration Rare, the cheapest of the set's three Mega Evolution ex Special Illustration Rares.
#4 Mega Dragalge ex
Dragalge is the Poison/Dragon Pokémon from X and Y, and like Mega Floette, its Mega Evolution was introduced in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. It's a Dragon type on the card, and the set's blurb names it as one of the Mega Evolution Pokémon ex on Mega Greninja ex's side.
Kazumasa Yasukuni drew the Special Illustration Rare, which sells for a few dollars more than Mega Floette ex.
#3 Cinccino ex
The only Pokémon ex among the six Special Illustration Rares that isn't a Mega Evolution, and the most valuable card in the set other than Mega Greninja ex, at about a third of the price of the top two.
Cinccino is a Normal-type Pokémon from Black and White, which makes it a Colorless type in the TCG. Keisin drew the Special Illustration Rare.
#2 Mega Greninja ex
The gold Mega Hyper Rare, the highest rarity in Chaos Rising and the only card at that rarity in the set. takuyoa drew it, along with the Ultra Rare at #8 and the regular Double Rare.
It trails the Special Illustration Rare by only $4.70, and the two can swap places from one day to the next.
#1 Mega Greninja ex
The most valuable card in Chaos Rising and the set's headline card. Susumu Maeya drew it, along with the Froakie and Frogadier Illustration Rares.
The Special Illustration Rare doesn't always beat the gold Mega Hyper Rare of the same Pokémon. Across the Mega Evolution series it's ahead in Phantasmal Flames (Mega Charizard X ex), Ascended Heroes (Mega Dragonite ex) and Pitch Black (Mega Darkrai ex), but behind in Mega Evolution (Mega Lucario ex and Mega Gardevoir ex) and Perfect Order (Mega Zygarde ex). Notes
Mega Greninja ex holds three of the top eight places, and its Special Illustration Rare and Mega Hyper Rare are the only Chaos Rising cards above $100. Cinccino ex is the only other card above $40, the two Supporter Special Illustration Rares sit around $20, and below the Mega Greninja ex Ultra Rare no card in the set is above $6. Every card from the first version of this list, published on 30 May 2026, has fallen by between 50% and 79% since then.
