About the Series
The Nintendo Black Star Promos are the promo series of the EX Series era. They followed the Wizards run after the Pokémon TCG licence moved to Nintendo, and restarted the numbering at 1.
The series includes several Pokémon-ex, the EX-era mechanic that also headlined the expansions running alongside it.
Numbering & Identification
Cards are numbered 1 to 40, with no denominator. The numbering runs separately from the EX Series expansions released at the same time.
Every Black Star Promo carries a black star where an expansion symbol would normally sit. That mark is what gives the series its name.
How to identify one: the black star holds a plain number and there is no set symbol. Nintendo-era promos carry a Nintendo copyright line rather than a Wizards of the Coast one.
