Series Overview
POP Series 8 is the eighth set of the Pokémon Organized Play programme, released in September 2008 during the Diamond & Pearl Series. POP sets were not sold in booster packs — they were handed out through organized play events.

About the Series
POP Series 8 brings Trainer cards back to the programme after two all-Pokémon sets. It carries Rare Candy, Night Maintenance and Roseanne’s Research.
The rest of the set is Diamond & Pearl-era Pokémon.
POP sets were handed out through Pokémon Organized Play, the tournament and league programme now called Play! Pokémon. They came in packs of two cards rather than standard boosters.
Numbering & Identification
Cards are numbered 1/17 to 17/17. Each POP set numbers its own cards, so the same number appears in all nine sets — a card reading 5/17 could belong to any of them. The series is identified by the artwork and the set listing, not by the number.
Every Black Star Promo carries a black star where an expansion symbol would normally sit. That mark is what gives the series its name.
How to identify one: POP Series cards carry the round Pokémon Organized Play logo rather than a black star, and read N/17.
