The Pokémon Company Japan deliberately delayed their official Abyss Eye trailer by four hours specifically so the reveal would coincide perfectly with the timing of the real-world new moon in Japan.
English Release
Abyss Eye's English equivalent is Pitch Black. The two sets are expected to be an almost 1:1 copy, with Pitch Black's card list closely mirroring Abyss Eye.

The complete Abyss Eye card list runs to 118 cards — 81 base set numbers plus 37 AR, SR, SAR, and MUR rarity cards above the regulation mark. Pokémon Japan officially confirmed the full Abyss Eye card list on 15 May 2026 via the official set page, ahead of the 22 May 2026 release. The Darkness-type core features Mega Darkrai ex, Inkay, Malamar, Zarude, and Chi-Yu; Mega Excadrill ex anchors the Fighting block alongside Annihilape, Mankey, Primeape, and Koraidon; a strong Ghost-type lineup is led by Mega Chandelure ex, Banette, Spiritomb, Marshadow, the Sinistea evolution line, and gym leader Gwynn. Other ex cards include Lurantis ex (Grass), Wailord ex (Water), Tapu Koko ex (Lightning), Rampardos ex (Fighting), and Morpeko ex (Darkness). Shadow Energy, Bolt Lightning Energy, and Dark Bell round out the support cards. All of Abyss Eye's full-art chase cards were revealed today (20 May 2026), headlined by three Mega Darkrai ex variants — the SR (099/081), the SAR (114/081) and a Mega Ultra Rare gold print (118/081). Joining them are full arts of Mega Zeraora ex (SR 096/081, plus a 112/081 SAR), Mega Chandelure ex (SR 097/081 and SAR 113/081), Lurantis ex (AR 094/081), Wailord ex (SR 095/081) and Morpeko ex (SAR 115/081); Special Art Rare and Super Rare Trainers including Gwynn (SR 111/081, plus SAR 117/081), Rust Syndicate Grunts (SR 110/081), Gladion's Fighting Spirit (SAR 116/081) and Misty's Energy (SR 108/081); and an Art Rare item run covering Iron Defender, Energy Switch, Crushing Hammer, Dark Bell, Heroic Bomb and Brave Bangle (102–107, SR).
