Mewtwo becomes available at 3:00 p.m. on 14 September and appears at Greengrass Isle, Greengrass Isle (Expert) and Cyan Beach (Expert). Its signature Psystrike creates a Berry Zone, which raises the Strength Mewtwo gains from Psychic-type Berries and lasts until you move to another area. Repeated activations stack. Mewtwo is a Special Pokémon, so only one can be on the team at a time, though more than one can be befriended.

The monthly new-moon event runs from 4:00 a.m. on 10 September to 3:59 a.m. on 13 September. Mew and Darkrai appear at a greater rate in every area, friendship points earned on encounter are increased, and Pokémon are harder to satisfy at the first snack time of the day. Shiny Pokémon can appear.

The two-week event runs from 4:00 a.m. on 14 September to 3:59 a.m. on 28 September, split into two weeks that turn over at 4:00 a.m. on 21 September. It is held in Greengrass Isle and Greengrass Isle (Expert), and no other area can be selected while it runs. Mewtwo is on a greater appearance rate, with Natu, Xatu, Espeon, Wobbuffet, Ralts, Kirlia, Gardevoir, Wynaut, Munna and Musharna slightly raised. Sleep research yields Mewtwo DNA, traded at the Event Exchange for the new Mewtwo Incense and Mewtwo Biscuits. Event Drowsy Power combines a global average with your own and unlocks 15 event ranks, capped at Rank 8 in week 1. Week 1 gives +8 carry limit and +2 Psychic main skill levels; week 2 gives +15 and +5, plus Drowsy Power ×1.3 with Mewtwo on the team. Rank rewards can be claimed until 3:59 a.m. on 1 October.
Event details →Fitbit Air Special Edition Pokémon Sleep announced
Google has announced a Pokémon Sleep version of its screenless Fitbit Air tracker, in a Sleepy Blue woven band with a silk-print sleeping Pikachu label. It is $129.99 in the US and ¥19,800 in Japan, preorders opened on 27 August (28 August in Japanese stores) and it ships from 15 September. Sold in the US and Japan only. The band is themed, not exclusive: the game reads the same sleep data from any Fitbit, and no in-game bonus was announced.

From 3:00 a.m. on 27 August, sleep data measured by a Fitbit device can be used for sleep research on iOS as well as Android. Sleep sessions started before linking Pokémon Sleep to Apple Health or Health Connect cannot be imported, and manually edited smartwatch data may fail to sync. An existing Pokémon GO Plus + link can be kept alongside a smartwatch link.

A worldwide event starting in mid-September 2026. Researchers accumulate Drowsy Power together to research Mewtwo, and collect samples of Mewtwo DNA that can be exchanged for Mewtwo Incense to research its sleep styles. Psychic-type helpers are particularly effective during the event, and Mew is called out as especially helpful.

A week-long event running from 4:00 a.m. on 31 August to 3:59 a.m. on 7 September. Snapshot Surprise photos taken during sleep research can feature Mew, and missions progress with the number of photos collected. Players who have not befriended Mew can obtain it; those who have receive a Eureka Seed (Mew) instead. Candies from Snapshot Surprise and research EXP are multiplied by 1.25, with 1,000 extra Dream Shards per photo. Mission rewards can be claimed until 3:59 a.m. on 9 September.

A server update fixed an issue where an effect was not triggering under certain conditions for main skills, Metronome, Transform (Skill Copy) and Mimic (Skill Copy).

The thirty-eighth Good Sleep Day runs from 4:00 a.m. on 27 August to 3:59 a.m. on 30 August in every area, with the full moon on the night of 28 August. Clefairy, Clefable and Cleffa are on a much greater appearance rate on the full moon night and a greater appearance rate on the other two nights, and undiscovered sleep styles are more likely to appear on all three. The full moon night gives Drowsy Power ×2, helper Pokémon Sleep EXP ×3 and 1,000 bonus sleep points; the nights either side give ×1.5, ×2 and 500. The full moon multiplier depends on the day of the week — ×4 on a Monday, ×3 on a Tuesday, ×2.5 on a Wednesday and ×2 on any other day — and 28 August is a Friday.

A week-long event marking a collaboration with the Pokémon animated TV series, running from 4:00 a.m. on 17 August to 3:59 a.m. on 24 August in every area. Pikachu (Captain) and Tinkatink are new to the game and on a greater appearance rate, main skill trigger chance and helper Sleep EXP are multiplied by 1.25, and Drowsy Power is multiplied by 1.3 from 21 to 23 August.

The event runs to 3:59 a.m. on 17 August in every area. Snorlax's requests are set to Curries and Stews and dish Strength is multiplied by 1.5, rising to 3 for an Extra Tasty dish and 4.5 for an Extra Tasty dish on Sunday. Hawlucha is new to the game and on a greater appearance rate, two Curry/Stew recipes have been added, and the Candy Cram-o-matic is available from the home screen.

Maintenance ran on 6 August, ahead of Summer Festival 2026. Lucario's main skill became Aura Sphere (Dream Shard Magnet S), which now adds Snorlax Strength on top of the Dream Shards, and Clefable's main skill activation rate went up slightly.

The second Expert Mode area opens at 4:00 a.m. on 10 August. It needs Master 18 on both Greengrass Isle and Cyan Beach to unlock, and Suicune appears there. Entry costs an Expert Ticket, exchanged for 200 sleep points at the regular exchange or 100 at the premium one.

The sixteenth New Moon Day runs across the nights around the August new moon. Mythical Pokémon get a special appearance rate, Pokémon are slower to fill up at the first snack time of the day, and any Pokémon on the special appearance rate gains 3 friendship points on encounter without a Poké Biscuit.

A week-long event from 10 to 17 August. Hawlucha joins the game on the greater appearance rate, Snorlax's requested dishes are fixed to curries and stews with their final Strength multiplied by 1.5, and Water-, Flying- and Bug-type Pokémon appear more often. Two curry recipes are added and the Candy Cram-o-matic returns for the week.

Two events recur every month and are tied to the moon. Good Sleep Day covers the nights around the full moon, and New Moon Day covers the nights around the new moon. Both are announced a week or two ahead on the official site, so a month with no entry above simply has no dates confirmed yet.

Expert Mode
Expert Mode is a harder version of an area with better rewards. Greengrass Isle (Expert) came first; Cyan Beach (Expert) follows on 10 August 2026. Unlocking an Expert area needs a Master 18 rating — Greengrass Isle for the first, and both Greengrass Isle and Cyan Beach for the second.
The difficulty comes from team building. Snorlax has one main favourite Berry each week plus two secondary favourites. Pokémon gathering the main favourite get bonuses such as a shorter helping interval, and Pokémon gathering none of the three are penalised.
Research Areas
Each area has its own roster of Pokémon and its own Snorlax to feed. You pick one to research in and can move between them freely.

How the Sleep Research Works
You leave the phone beside you overnight and the app measures how you sleep. In the morning it converts that into a Sleep Score, and the score plus Snorlax’s Drowsy Power decides how many Pokémon turned up to sleep next to Snorlax while you were asleep. Those are the Sleep Styles you collect into the Sleep Style Dex.
Sleep is sorted into three types — Dozing, Snoozing and Slumbering — and each Pokémon’s Sleep Styles are filed under one of them, so which type you record decides which Pokémon you can find that morning. A session counts towards the score up to 8 hours 30 minutes; sleeping longer than that does not raise it further.
Daytime is the other half of the game. Helper Pokémon on your team gather Berries and ingredients, you cook those into dishes for Snorlax, and the dishes raise its Strength, which raises Drowsy Power, which brings more Pokémon the next night. The research week runs from Monday, and Snorlax’s Strength resets when it does.
About the Game
Pokémon Sleep is a sleep tracking app built as a Pokémon game. It released in July 2023, region by region across that month, and it is the sleep counterpart to Pokémon GO’s step counting rather than a game you sit down to play.
