Fitbit Air Special Edition Pokémon Sleep: Price, Dates and What It Actually Does

Google has announced the Google Fitbit Air Special Edition Pokémon Sleep, a themed version of the screenless Fitbit Air fitness tracker built around the Pokémon Sleep mobile app. It was announced on 27 August 2026 and is presented as part of Pokémon's 30th anniversary year.

The hardware is the standard Fitbit Air. What is new is the band, the price, and the marketing tie to the sleep-tracking game. There is no Pokémon-specific hardware feature: the tracker records sleep the same way every Fitbit Air does, and Pokémon Sleep reads that data through the phone's health platform.

What It Is

The special edition swaps the standard woven band for a colourway Google calls Sleepy Blue, a soft mid-blue with a gold-tone buckle. The strap carries a custom silk-print label of a sleeping Pikachu alongside the Pokémon Sleep wordmark.

Google's pitch is comfort for overnight wear: the same ultra-light body as the standard model, and an adjustable loop strap you can slacken before bed. The tracker has no screen, which is the point of the Air — there is nothing to light up in the night.

Price and Dates

Google states the special edition is sold in the United States and Japan only, and gives the product an age rating of 13 and over. In the US it is listed on the Google Store, with Target also taking orders. In Japan, Google says the model will also be sold through participating retailers.

Every unit includes three months of Google Health Premium, the paid subscription tier that adds the Gemini-based Google Health Coach and deeper analysis. Google's Japanese terms put the expiry of that offer at 26 May 2027 and note it is one per person, for new or returning subscribers only, with a valid payment method required. After the trial the subscription bills at $9.99 a month in the US and ¥1,580 a month in Japan, and can be cancelled at any time.

The Hardware

Specifications are unchanged from the Fitbit Air that launched in May 2026:

• Screenless, band-style tracker; Google's smallest.
• Up to about a week of battery life, with roughly a day's charge in five minutes.
• 24/7 heart rate, heart rhythm with AFib alerts, SpO2, resting heart rate and heart rate variability.
• Automatic sleep stage and sleep duration tracking.
• Requires a Google Account, the Google Health app and an internet connection; works with most phones on Android 11 or later, or iOS 16.4 or later.

Google is explicit that the sleep-tracking features are not medical devices and are not intended for diagnosis or treatment.

How It Links to the Game

There is no direct Fitbit-to-Pokémon Sleep connection. The data takes a three-step route through the phone's health platform:

1. Allow the Google Health app to write to Health Connect on Android, or to Apple Health on iOS.
2. Open Pokémon Sleep, go to the sub-menu and choose the link option to pair the device.
3. Wear the tracker to sleep. Sleep stages and duration record automatically and sync across each morning.

What Happens In Game

Recorded sleep, including daytime naps, feeds the game's normal research loop:

• Pokémon gather around Snorlax. Each morning, Pokémon with sleep types similar to your own turn up around Snorlax. You research their sleep styles to fill the Sleep Style Dex, and can recruit them as helper Pokémon.
• Drowsy Power is calculated. The sleep score derived from your recorded sleep duration is multiplied by Snorlax's Energy to give that day's Drowsy Power.
• Higher Drowsy Power means rarer finds. The more Drowsy Power you build, the more Pokémon appear the next morning and the better the odds of an undiscovered sleep style.

Fitbit Sync Came to iOS the Same Day

Separately, Pokémon Sleep enabled Fitbit sleep data on iOS from 3:00 a.m. on 27 August 2026. Fitbit devices had previously worked on Android only. The official notice lists three caveats:

• Sleep sessions that began before you linked Pokémon Sleep to Apple Health or Health Connect cannot be imported.
• Sleep data that has been manually edited on the smartwatch may fail to import.
• An existing Pokémon GO Plus + link can stay connected alongside a smartwatch link; you do not have to choose.

What Was Not Announced

Neither Google nor The Pokémon Company announced any in-game bonus with the hardware — no serial code, no exclusive item, and no exclusive Pokémon. As described, the buyer gets a themed band and the Google Health Premium trial, and the in-game behaviour is identical to using any other supported tracker.

Also unstated: production numbers, whether the band will be sold separately, and any release outside the US and Japan.
