Worked out against your own clock. Masters EX runs on one global schedule, so an event starts at the same moment everywhere; the times below are Pacific Time, as the official site quotes them.

Event Schedule

Everything currently on the calendar, in date order. Times are Pacific Time. If your device is set to another timezone, your own local window is added underneath each one.

Almost every window opens at 11:00 p.m. PT and closes at 10:59 p.m. PT, which is the game’s daily rollover rather than midnight. Scouts and events are announced on the official site a few days ahead at most, so a gap in the table above means nothing has been confirmed yet.

Sync Pairs and Roles

A sync pair is one Trainer plus one Pokémon, treated as a single unit. Trainers are drawn from across the main series and the anime, and a Trainer can appear more than once with a different partner, a different outfit or a different role — Sygna Suit and Alt. versions are separate pairs, not alternate skins.

Every pair has a role, which decides what it is built to do and what its sync move gains at 6★ EX.

How Battles Work

Battles are three-on-three and run in real time rather than in turns. The official description is “3-on-3, real-time team battles”, and the real-time part is what makes the game different from the main series.

Moves cost move gauge, and the gauge fills as time passes. The important detail is that the whole team shares one gauge, so spending it on one pair means another pair waits. Speed affects how fast the gauge fills. A few moves cost nothing to use.

Sync moves are each pair’s signature attack. They unlock once a certain number of other moves have been used in the battle, and the number of sync moves you can use in a single battle is capped, so timing them matters. At 6★ EX the sync move gains an extra effect based on the pair’s role: Strike sync moves hit every opponent, Tech sync moves deal double damage, and Support sync moves give double the usual stat increases.

Powering Up Sync Pairs

A newly recruited pair can be taken to level 100 straight away, through battles or level-up manuals. Past that you have to raise the level cap using role-specific items from the Cap-Unlock Area in the Training Area. The caps sit at 130 and then 140.

Scouting

New pairs come from scouts, paid for with gems or scout tickets. The scout types differ in what can appear, not just in who is featured.

Recruiting certain pairs also unlocks that Trainer as a Trainer Lodge invite, which is a separate system of conversations and friendship rewards.

About the Game

Pokémon Masters EX is a free-to-start mobile battling game developed and published by DeNA. It launched as Pokémon Masters on 29 August 2019 and was renamed on 28 August 2020, alongside the first anniversary update.

It is set on Pasio, an artificial island built for the Pokémon Masters League. The story has you collecting badges from PML Leaders, and the roster is the draw: it is the one Pokémon game whose cast is the Trainers rather than the Pokémon.
