What Pokémon said
Pokémon describes the London store as “the ultimate destination for Pokémon fans”, aimed at newcomers and long-time collectors alike.
“This new London store will give visitors the chance to step into the world of Pokémon, whether they’re discovering the brand for the first time or have been Trainers for years.”
Gaku Susai, Chief Product and Experience Officer, The Pokémon Company International
Earlier London shops
London has had official Pokémon shops before, but only temporary ones:
- Autumn 2019: a pop-up Pokémon Center at Westfield London in Shepherd’s Bush, timed for Pokémon Sword and Shield, whose Galar region is based on Great Britain.
- August 2022: a Pokémon Center pop-up at the Pokémon World Championships at ExCeL London.
Outside events, UK fans buy official merchandise from Pokémon Center UK online or from high street and online retailers. Today, permanent Pokémon shops are only found in Asia, from the Pokémon Center chain in Japan to Pokémon Center Singapore. The last permanent one in the West was Pokémon Center New York at Rockefeller Plaza, which opened in 2001 and became the Nintendo World Store in 2005.
