Set Overview

Skyridge, released in May 2003, was the third and final e-Card set and the last Pokémon set produced by Wizards of the Coast before the licence moved to Nintendo. It carried on the card-e Reader dot-code system and expanded the Crystal Pokémon subset to six secret rares — among them the coveted Crystal Charizard.

About the Set

Skyridge kept the photographic frame and e-Reader strips of the earlier e-Card sets, and doubled down on the Crystal subset that Aquapolis had introduced. The main run is 144 numbered cards; alongside them sit 32 Crystal-type holo parallels (numbered H1–H32) and six Crystal Pokémon secret rares numbered 145–150. As the last set before Nintendo took over the TCG, Skyridge closed out the Wizards of the Coast era.

How to identify it: Skyridge cards read N/144 and carry the e-Reader dot strips. The six Crystal secret rares are numbered 145/144 through 150/144, above the printed total, and the H-numbered cards (H1–H32) are the parallel Crystal holo subset.

Crystal Cards & the e-Reader

Like the other e-Card sets, Skyridge has a single Unlimited print run with no 1st Edition stamp, and every card carries the card-e Reader dot strips. Its defining feature is the expanded Crystal subset.

TypeWhat it means
Main set (1–144)The standard commons, uncommons and rares that make up the bulk of the set.
Crystal holos (H1–H32)A parallel holo subset — shinier Crystal-type versions of 32 set cards, pulled at a lower rate.
Crystal secret rares (145–150)Crystal Celebi, Charizard, Crobat, Golem, Ho-Oh and Kabutops — the crystalline chase cards numbered past the total.

Note: the gallery below covers the numbered main set. The six Crystal secret rares (145–150) are included; the H1–H32 Crystal holo parallels are a separate subset.

Promo Cards

Skyridge was the final Wizards of the Coast set before the Pokémon TCG licence passed to Nintendo and The Pokémon Company. These are among the last entries in the Wizards Black Star Promo series, which ran to 53 cards.

Wizards Black Star Promos use their own numbering (#1–#53) and carry a black star where a set symbol would be.

Collecting & Where to Buy

Skyridge is out of print and a sought-after vintage set. Common and uncommon singles are affordable, while the Crystal secret rares — Charizard especially — and the H1–H32 Crystal holos carry the highest premiums, particularly in high grade.

Collector tip: the Crystal cards are the value — confirm you are looking at a genuine Crystal (numbered 145–150, or an H-numbered holo) and check the edges closely, since the photographic borders show wear easily.
