Pokémon Pokopia released on 5 March 2026 and has had 7 updates since. The notes below are Nintendo’s own, reproduced in full so you can see exactly what each patch changed. Dates are the European release dates and can run a day ahead of or behind other regions.

Additions

  • Added the move Dive, allowing players to move freely underwater.
  • The Build specialty can now be used to build houses underwater.
  • Added new items such as the portal pod and safe. Recipes can be purchased after increasing Palette Town’s environment level.
  • Added the new pattern, dynamic Ditto print. Can be obtained by talking to Smearguru after acquiring the diploma.
  • Added new emotes: Lie Down and Ready, Set, Go! Can be obtained in Bleak Beach and on Dream Islands.
  • Added five new hair colours: orange, light pink, yellow-green, blue-green and brown.
  • Added a function to move items in bulk between the storage box and bag.
  • Added a function to delete items placed inside objects such as the garbage bin.
  • Added the ability to fine-tune depth placement when placing windows, doors and similar items.
  • Added an option in Settings to hide the confirmation message shown when cancelling Magnet Rise.

Improvements

  • Even if a Pokémon’s habitat is destroyed, it will move back in if the same habitat is rebuilt within a certain area.
  • Pokémon that are sad because furniture was removed will now notice more quickly when the same furniture is replaced.
  • Pokémon that taught you an emote will now respond with the same emote when you use it.
  • If a Pokémon being searched for in the Pokédex is in another town, you can now travel to that town using Return Home.
  • Reduced ordinary conversation indicators so that special Pokémon conversations and requests directed at Ditto stand out more clearly.
  • Lost relics can now be appraised in batches of up to 10 at a time.
  • Paint, Gather Honey and Collect can now be performed multiple times in the same interaction.
  • During crafting, materials in the storage box next to the workbench will be consumed before materials in the bag.
  • Increased the placement limit for power generators (excluding furnaces) from 64 to 128.
  • Increased the number of different photos that can be displayed in a town from 10 to 40.
  • When sucking up liquid, a short press of the move button to hold liquids in Ditto’s mouth will allow liquid to be held in their mouth without removing it from the environment.
  • When releasing stored water, adjusted water levels now automatically match nearby water levels.
  • Smearguru can now learn patterns from photos stored in References.
  • Improved visibility of the target item when painting with paint balloons.
  • Increased the amount of treasure discoverable with the Dowsing Machine on Dream Islands.
  • Pokémon companions can now follow you while moving with Surf, Glide, Rollout or Magnet Rise.
  • Inhaling items and opening the bag are now possible while rolling using Rollout.
  • Rollout can now destroy certain natural objects such as large boulders.
  • Surf can now be activated on land by pressing the Surf button while holding the focus button.
  • Improved activation conditions for Surf and Waterfall so that they occur more smoothly.
  • Leafage can now be used on farm soil to revert it to a normal soil block.
  • Strength can now be used underwater.
  • Added an All tab to both the Pokédex and Habitat Dex.
  • Made it clearer that buildings can still be remodelled even when items such as the Ditto Flag are attached to roofs or walls.

Fixes

  • When talking to a Pokémon that is currently assigned to construct buildings, options such as “Follow me!” may sometimes fail to appear.
  • Suicune and Gholdengo may be unable to travel across water.
  • Pokémon may occasionally fall into the ocean or off cliffs when appearing from their habitats.
  • Even when using honey, Pokémon may sometimes fail to return to their habitats.
  • Using Magnet Rise may occasionally cause Pokémon to scold or warn the player.
  • Pokémon that dislike water may sometimes be unable to move across duckweed and flowering duckweed on the water’s surface.
  • Requests from Pokémon may occasionally include items that the requesting Pokémon actually dislikes.
  • When processing berries in the community box, paint may not be produced correctly.
  • The timing of the note played by the music mat (high Do) is offset incorrectly.
  • Certain furniture can be painted through specific procedures even on parts where the colours are not actually changeable.
  • Painting certain items may use more paint than intended.
  • The light colour of a painted surface light may fail to change correctly.
  • Under specific conditions, it is possible to place more than one party cooking pot in the same town.
  • Some items may display unnaturally when viewed from a distance.
  • For some items, visual effects may disappear when viewed through glass.
  • Under certain conditions during multiplayer, building may become impossible to complete or cancel.
  • In certain situations, it may be unclear why actions such as building or relocation cannot be performed.
  • On Cloud Islands, players other than the administrator may be able to place a relocation kit.
  • Under certain conditions, a building kit may become unrecoverable when remodelling a house.
  • Under certain conditions, painted portions of the sand house may be reset.
  • Using Rock Smash while falling may cause Ditto’s position or height to become significantly displaced.
  • During the Withered Wasteland request “Clear the path!” Slowpoke may stop moving partway through.
  • During the Sparkling Skylands request “Follow Tinkmaster!” certain actions may prevent the request from progressing.
  • During the Sparkling Skylands request “Pokémon Center tour guide!” searching for Tinkmaster in the Pokédex may guide the player to the town containing their habitat rather than the town where they are currently located.
  • Loading may occasionally fail to finish when returning from a Dream Island.
  • Returning from a Dream Island may incorrectly send the player to Palette Town.
  • Under certain conditions, when an online session ends, the player may be transported to a Dream Island.
  • On the Cloud Island loading screen, the player’s gender pronoun may sometimes be displayed incorrectly in some languages.
  • We have made several additional adjustments and fixed a number of bugs to improve the overall gameplay experience.

  • When using chairs or beds, Pokémon accompanying Ditto will now use them together, if possible.
  • Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Espeon, Umbreon, Glaceon, and Sylveon will now sleep at the edge of sofas, similar to Leafeon.
  • When placing objects, Pokémon accompanying Ditto will now avoid the placement preview area.
  • When moving Pokémon into a two-story house, you can now select the destination floor even while indoors.
  • When Pokémon process materials at the community box or furnace, they will prioritize locations closer to their own habitat.
  • While Ditto is falling after its transformation wears off, pressing the Run or Jump buttons will return Ditto to its human transformation and allow various controls.
  • The placement limit for items that conduct electricity has been increased from 512 to 1,024. (This will apply to items placed after installing the update.)
  • When placing the laser sensor item, the sensor’s detection range will now be displayed.
  • In the Environment Level details screen, you can now see which Pokémon’s comfort level requests you fulfilled that day.
  • In the Items section of the Collection menu, pressing the X Button will let you view color variations of flowers and hedges.
  • In the Filter menu of the Pokédex and Habitat Dex, the “Filter” action button has been renamed “Confirm.”
  • When saving game settings in the main menu, it is now clearer that a save is in progress.
  • You can now adjust game settings in the main menu while auto-saving is in progress.
  • Adjusted the dialogue in the request “Place the Ditto flag!” in Withered Wasteland to make it clearer where to place the flag.
  • Adjusted the dialogue in the important request “Yawn up a storm!” in Withered Wasteland to make it easier to understand how to increase the humidity.
  • Adjusted the dialogue in the request “Flowers in the planter!” in Bleak Beach to make the progression easier to understand.

Fixes

  • In certain situations, Pokémon may stop partway while processing materials from the community box.
  • In certain situations, transactions at the Pokémon Center or Poké Mart may end immediately.
  • Hoppip, Skiploom, and Jumpluff may be unable to move through the air.
  • When Pokémon appear at the Chansey resting area habitat, they may clip into the Chansey plant.
  • In the hot-spring shower habitat, Pokémon may not react to the hot spring.
  • During hide-and-sneak, doors and windows cannot be opened.
  • In certain situations, learning an emote may cause a Pokémon to fall.
  • While taking photos with the camera, if you set Ditto’s expression to the default, the expressions of other Pokémon may not change.
  • Some Pokémon may be less likely to appear in town if they do not have a habitat.
  • When bringing a Pokémon from another town, it sometimes may be unable to move into a block house.
  • In certain situations, Ludicolo may appear in two different towns, and when moving between towns, it may disappear from both.
  • When Vespiquen appears on a Cloud Island, items exchanged for honey may not be available until the next day.
  • During Virtual Mode, a Pokémon following Ditto may not get on a lift.
  • In certain situations, requests to place items in a home may not be able to be completed.
  • In certain situations, even after removing items that Pokémon dislike, their comfort level does not increase.
  • In certain situations, a Pokémon’s active time may not increase even when the brightness matches their preference.
  • In certain situations, Pokémon may comment that it has become darker or brighter even when no change was made.
  • While using Surf, pressing the L Stick may not sustain running.
  • In certain situations, when placing a poster on a wall, the placement preview may not display correctly.
  • The punching game item may sometimes not respond.
  • The treasure and jewel wall decoration items may display incorrectly underwater.
  • When wooden fencing is placed next to a wooden gate, they do not connect.
  • When constructing something that requires both the Bulldoze and Crush specialties, if a Pokémon that specializes in both is assigned, it may become impossible to assign a Pokémon to the Bulldoze slot.
  • With some construction kits, if construction is canceled under certain conditions, the screen may remain black and controls become unresponsive.
  • Under certain conditions, construction may not complete even on the following day.
  • When relocating or demolishing certain structures, such as the charging station, parts of the floor may become unbreakable.
  • In certain situations, drying out blocks with a Smooth Rock may cause seeds planted in them to disappear.
  • The request “Charge up the charging station!” in Bleak Beach may remain incomplete even after being completed.
  • During the request “Pokémon Center tour guide!” in the Sparkling Skylands, performing certain steps may prevent relocation.
  • In certain situations, going to a Dream Island may instead take you to Palette Town.
  • In certain situations, if going to a Dream Island fails, the game may become unplayable.
  • In certain situations in multiplayer, items may be lost during host transfer or when the session is disbanded.
  • After completing certain steps, if guests on a Cloud Island purchase a large number of items, the items may disappear.
  • In certain situations, completing a special challenge may prevent certain recipes from being learned.
  • On a Cloud Island, messages about in-game events may repeatedly appear.
  • The conditions for starting the Jump Rope Contest on a Cloud Island are set incorrectly.
  • In certain situations, starting the construction completion event for “skyland building 4F” may cause the controls to become unresponsive.

Fixes

  • In Bleak Beach, the request “Wanted: Food!” could not be progressed under certain conditions.
  • In Bleak Beach, performing certain actions would prevent the request “Pool repair needed!” from appearing.
  • After completing the request “Pool repair needed!” in Bleak Beach, it was sometimes impossible for the player to have Happiny accompany them.
  • During the request “Pokémon Center tour guide!” in the Sparkling Skylands, performing certain actions could prevent the player from having Tinkmaster accompany them, making it impossible to progress with the request.
  • Performing certain actions would cause Professor Tangrowth to stop appearing.
  • If certain Pokémon were waiting to appear, other Pokémon would sometimes also fail to appear.
  • Performing certain actions could make Peakychu, Chef Dente and Tinkmaster unable to leave town, preventing request progression.
  • Under certain conditions, picking up a relocation kit (prepare) would leave behind indestructible platforms.
  • Accessing the Pokémon Center PC with certain save data would cause the game to freeze.
  • During in-game events, rebuilding a Pokémon Center using certain actions would cause its decorations to appear as floating.
  • During in-game events, trades could not be conducted at the Pokémon Centers on Cloud Islands.

Version 1.0.3 Update

Improvements

  • In some cases, Pokémon whose habitats had disappeared could not be found even when searching for them using the search function in the Pokédex.

Fixes

  • When traveling to a Dream Island under certain circumstances, you would arrive at Palette Town and be unable to return to the original town.
  • When moving between towns or when the in-game date changed, the screen would remain dark, making it difficult to play.
  • If you performed certain actions, it would become impossible to relocate Pokémon habitats.
  • If construction was carried out in a certain way, building projects would not be completed until the in-game date changed.
  • In Bleak Beach, performing certain actions would prevent progress during the request “Power up the charging station!”
  • In the Sparkling Skylands, performing certain actions would cause the Pokémon that you requested construction help from to be removed, making it difficult to progress in the request to rebuild the huge building.
  • Performing certain actions on a Cloud Island would cause seasonal Pokémon to disappear from the town and the island.
  • When creating a new Cloud Island, an error would occur and the island could not be created.
  • By performing certain actions, the controller vibrates continuously.

Version 1.0.2 Update

Improvements

  • During the Withered Wasteland request “Rock Smash your way to treasure!”, if you placed another block at the same location as the cracked block close to Hitmonchan, it made it hard to see how you should proceed.
  • During the Bleak Beach request “To Snorlax”, if you placed another block at the same location as the cracked block close to Snorlax, it made it hard to see how you should proceed.

Fixes

  • During the Withered Wasteland request “Help make a home!”, Squirtle could move to the top of a tree and become impossible to speak to, blocking request progress.
  • During the Bleak Beach request “Find the Pokémon Center!”, if you broke the cracked block in the bridge before Professor Tangrowth crossed it, it became difficult to proceed with the request.
  • During the Bleak Beach request “Find the Pokémon Center!”, performing a specific sequence of actions could keep Professor Tangrowth’s bridge repair request from triggering, preventing progress.
  • If you performed actions in a certain order at Rocky Ridges, the event in which you meet Rotom would not trigger.
  • During the Rocky Ridges request “Clear the path!”, if the request was triggered under certain conditions, it became difficult to proceed with the request.
  • Spinarak’s type was listed incorrectly in the Pokédex.

Updating the Game

Updates download automatically if your Switch 2 is connected to the internet and the console is in sleep mode. To force one, highlight Pokémon Pokopia on the HOME menu, press the + button, then choose Software Update and Via the Internet. The version number appears at the top right of the title screen.

Each update includes everything from the ones before it, so a fresh install only needs the latest.
