Set Overview
Neo Destiny closed out the Neo series in early 2002 and was the last Wizards of the Coast set to carry a 1st Edition print run. It introduced Light and Dark Pokémon side by side and delivered eight Shining Pokémon secret rares — among them the legendary Shining Charizard.

About the Set
Neo Destiny built the set around a Light-versus-Dark theme: gentle Light Pokémon that healed and supported, and aggressive Dark Pokémon that hit harder. Cards 1–16 are the standard holo rares, and the eight Shining Pokémon — numbered 106–113, past the printed total of 105 — are the recoloured secret rares that define the set.
How to identify it: look for the Neo set symbol in the bottom-right. The eight Shining cards are numbered 106/105 through 113/105, above the set total. 1st Edition copies carry the “1st EDITION” stamp on the lower-left — Neo Destiny was the final English set to have one.
Printings: 1st Edition & Unlimited
Every card exists in two main printings. The difference is the single biggest factor in value, so it is worth checking before you buy — and Neo Destiny is the last set where the 1st Edition stamp appears at all.
| Printing | How to spot it | Rarity |
|---|---|---|
| 1st Edition | A black “1st EDITION” stamp on the lower-left of the artwork. The first, smaller print run. | First run — most valuable |
| Unlimited | No stamp. Otherwise identical to the 1st Edition card. | The main, long run — most common |
Quick check: a 1st Edition stamp on the lower-left means the first run; no stamp means Unlimited.

Promo Cards
By the Neo Destiny era (early 2002), the Wizards Black Star Promos had reached the high #40s and #50s. They were not part of any set — the series ran to 53 cards — but these are from the same window.
Wizards Black Star Promos use their own numbering (#1–#53) and carry a black star where a set symbol would be.
Collecting & Where to Buy
Neo Destiny is out of print and trades only on the secondary market. The Shining cards — Charizard above all — carry by far the biggest premiums; standard Unlimited cards remain inexpensive.
Collector tip: the Shining cards are numbered 106/105 through 113/105 — confirm the numbering and 1st Edition vs Unlimited before paying a premium.
