About the Set
Tied to the FireRed & LeafGreen remakes, the set is built around Kanto Pokémon. Its nine Pokémon-ex are Kanto favourites — Charizard ex, Blastoise ex, Venusaur ex, Gengar ex, Gyarados ex and more, including two different Mr. Mime ex (cards 110 and 111). Beyond the printed total of 112 sit four secret rares: a Charmander and the legendary-bird ex trio of Articuno, Moltres and Zapdos.
How to identify it: cards read N/112. The four secret rares are numbered 113/112 through 116/112, above the set total. Pokémon-ex have the silver holo border and the “ex” suffix.
Pokémon-ex & Secret Rares
EX FireRed & LeafGreen had a single Unlimited print run. The cards that matter to collectors are the nine Pokémon-ex and the four secret rares numbered past the total.
| Type | What it means |
|---|---|
| Pokémon-ex (104–112) | The nine silver-bordered ex cards, the Kanto starters and favourites among them. |
| Secret rares (113–116) | A Charmander plus Articuno, Moltres and Zapdos ex — the hidden chase cards numbered past the total. |
| Reverse holo | Parallel foil versions of commons, uncommons and rares, with the shimmer across the whole card body. |
Note: the gallery below covers all 116 cards, including the four secret rares (113–116). A number above 112 marks a secret rare.

Promo Cards
The Nintendo Black Star Promos from this Kanto-focused window featured the legendary birds as Pokémon-ex and Mew, matching the first-generation theme of the set.
Nintendo Black Star Promos use their own numbering (#1 onward) and carry a black star where a set symbol would be.
Collecting & Where to Buy
EX FireRed & LeafGreen is out of print and trades on the secondary market. Common Kanto singles are inexpensive, while Charizard ex, the other Pokémon-ex, and the four secret rares — the bird ex trio especially — carry the strongest premiums.
Collector tip: Charizard ex and the secret bird ex (114–116) are the value here — confirm the 113–116 numbering on the secret rares and check the ex holo borders for wear.
